Genuine, unobtrusive & heartfelt wedding photography
Pre-wedding engagement shoot
I hear so many people tell me that they're dreading having their wedding photos taken, which is such a shame! For this reason I offer a complimentary engagement photoshoot so you can put aside all your worries well before your big day. It's a perfect opportunity for us to break the ice and build a rapport so I won't just be "a stranger" capturing those all-important moments on your wedding day. It also gives me an opportunity to demonstrate just how relaxed the whole experience can be.
With all your hard work organising a million and one things beforehand your wedding day is the time to finally let go and enjoy the most important and romantic day in your life. Now you can let the people you’ve chosen do all the hard work. Hopefully I’ll be one of them, capturing the tears of joy, laughter, happiness and atmosphere of your big day. Every step of the way I’ll be dedicated to photographing this once in a lifetime occasion using my many years of experience to create beautiful, fun, relaxed and candid imagery that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
With the option of having a second photographer we can comprehensively capture those all important moments during your preparations with your bridesmaids. This gives us a chance to get some candid shots of the boys being boys (perhaps having a cheeky pint?) and as an added bonus we’ll make sure the boys are on time! (The girls are allowed to be a little late...)
I realise that this is the most nerveracking part of the day so to ensure that I'm not adding to this I refrain from ever using flash during the ceremony and utilise natural light. I keep my distance by using a lens which allows me to be slightly further away while still catching intimate moments. I also plan ahead of the occasion, finalising my ideas with the vicar/registrar on the day, so you’ll always find me in the right spot at the right time.
After the ceremony, all your friends and family will be excited and it's unrealistic to expect that we'll gather everyone straight away, especially while your eccentric uncle is hunting down his favourite tipple! I happily acknowledge this and ensure that you and your guests can enjoy this time before rounding up those involved in any group shots.
I highly recommend keeping your group shots limited strictly to the key people. This is not said for my benefit but because I've witnessed many a time that a long shot list means you and your guests will quickly get frustrated and this is something I'm sure you don't want on your wedding day.
There's plenty of opportunities to get more relaxed shots of your guests throughout the whole day. I also take advantage of the chilled out vibe in-between the wedding breakfast and evening guests arriving to capture more casual group shots.
The happy couple
I'm not a fan of looking at what other photographers have done in the past and replicating it for your wedding. Pinterest and inspiration boards are all well and good but ultimately it's your day and since you are unique as a couple, the photos should be too. I often find the best and most honest wedding shots happen spontaneously, and certainly not from a list provided beforehand.
You may feel nervous about the thought of being the centre of attention but this will be the last thing on your mind when the time arrives; you’ll be too busy enjoying yourselves as I capture those precious moments. I work in a professional yet informal manner and don't take you away from your guests for more than half a hour to ensure that I don't impose upon total enjoyment of your day.
For the vast majority of your day you won't even know I'm there, since I blend into the background amongst your guests discretely capturing candid moments. From the reactions to hilarious moments during the best man’s speech to smaller groups of guests laughing and joking around, these will almost certainly be your favourite shots and the best way to tell your story.
By this point all your guests will be thoroughly relaxed, allowing for some great off-the-cuff shots. During this time I will capture the all important cutting of the cake, first dance and your Dad strutting his stuff on the dance floor.
Ring flash photobooth
This optional extra is a perfect way to photograph guests informally during the evening's proceedings. I bring fun props, confetti canons, fancy dress clothing and a rewritable chalk speech bubble. This offers a modern alternative to the traditional, but often forgotten, guestbook.
I take every action necessary to ensure that all your images are securely backed up. I also have backup cameras and accessories to hand if something goes wrong with my primary equipment.
I have shot at many venues all over the Bristol, Bath, Somerset and the South West including Widbrook Grange, Maunsel House, Orchardleigh Estate, Fernhill Farm, Gants Mill, Kingscote Barn, Clevedon Hall, Folly Farm, Priston Mill, Combe Lodge, Wick Farm, Ston Easton Park, Leigh Court, Aldwick Court Farm, Charlton House & a field in the middle of nowhere to name a few.
