Io & Ed’s vintage rockabilly wedding at Orchardleigh Estate, Somerset

On a swelteringly hot bank holiday Sunday at the end of May, we headed to Somerset to photograph the wedding of Frome couple Io and Ed at the self-proclaimed fairytale wedding venue Orchardleigh Estate.

You might wonder if they over-hyped themselves appointing that “fairytale wedding” title, but as soon as you take your first step onto the estate you’ll realise straight away that it’s absolutely justified (especially after having travelled for several minutes up their epic winding driveway a.k.a. one of the most superbly manicured golf course lawns I’ve ever seen).

The grounds of the estate are as breathtaking as they are far reaching, with panoramic views of the vast green landscape and accompanying lake. The three storey Victorian house matches in both grandeur and class.

Hair and makeup preparations took place in a luxurious bridal suite within the estate. The styling was a considered affair with fixed up classic vintage hair styling for the bride and pinup style victory rolls for the beautiful bridesmaids. When departing for the church, they hardly looked far removed from a fashion photo set.

Ed the groom was pretty relaxed before the ceremony and with the help of his groomsman polished of a small bottle of whisky before heading to the church for the ceremony.

The bride Io left for the church in a stunning mint green retro morris minor wedding car generously decorated by in fresh flowers.

The ceremony was hosted just a short 5 minute drive away from Orchardleigh, at a cosy little church called All Saints in the small leafy village of Lullington.
