I met Holli & Murray at a wedding fayre in Frome and had been looking forward to their wedding at Gants Mill ever since they booked me.
Gants Mill is a rural wedding venue set in the Somerset countryside, run by a lovely (and very experienced) couple Greg & Elaine. It’s ideal for anything from an intimate gathering to a full scale wedding. It is a romantic location that is not entirely traditional in terms of weddings, but also not too far removed from the norm that your parents will question why you’ve chosen it for your big day.
It lends itself perfectly to an outdoor ceremony, which is what Holli & Murray chose, and being there in the middle of summer meant that the pretty English garden and walkways were covered in lots of gorgeous coloured flowers.
Since I’m a photographer who shoots mainly on location in the UK I’m more than used to checking the weather forecast on a near-hourly basis (if anyone finds a way of embedding a weather forecast into the palm of your hand let me know, I’m in!)
I knew it was due to rain a bit but thankfully despite a small amount of drizzle during the group shots, we were spared a repeat of the thunder storm and downpour that had occurred the night before. Photos in the rain are certainly possible, but it would have been such a shame to be prevented from using all the pretty little spots that are to be found in the grounds of the mill.
Greg’s organisation skills were some of the best I’ve seen in the business, which I’m sure must have taken a lot of the pressure off Holli & Murray prior to the day. Everything ran very smoothly and despite the relaxed vibe everything was remarkably ON TIME (anyone who works at or attends lots of weddings will know this is almost unheard of).
